## 10. RDE (Registry data escrow) configuration:
### Generate the Key Pair:
```bash
gpg2 --full-generate-key
```
### Key Type Selection:
You'll be prompted to select the type of key you want. Typically, the default (RSA and RSA) is fine. Press Enter to accept the default.
### Key Size:
You'll be asked for a key size. 2048 bits is the default and is sufficient for most use cases. Press Enter to accept the default.
### Key Validity:
Set how long the key should be valid. You can choose a specific period (e.g., 1y for 1 year) or press Enter to accept the default of the key being valid forever.
### Confirm Key Options:
Confirm your key settings.
### Provide Your Information:
Real name: Enter your name.
Email address: Enter your email address. This is essential as GPG keys are often identified by the associated email.
Comment: Optional. You can leave this blank.
Confirm Your Details: Check that the details you've entered are correct.
Set a Passphrase: Since you need a key without a passphrase, simply press Enter at the passphrase prompt. You'll need to press Enter again to confirm the empty passphrase.
Your GPG key pair will now be generated.
### Exporting Your Keys:
Public key:
```bash
gpg2 --armor --export your-email@example.com > mypublickey.asc
```
Replace `your-email@example.com` with the email address you used when generating the key.
Private key:
```bash
gpg2 --armor --export-secret-keys your-email@example.com > myprivatekey.asc
```
### Secure Your Private Key:
Always keep your private key secure. Do not share it. If someone gains access to your private key, they can impersonate you in cryptographic operations.
### Use in RDE deposit generation:
Please send the exported `mypublickey.asc` to your RDE provider, and also place the path to `myprivatekey.asc` in the escrow.php system as required.
